Northern Waystation Project - August 2025 Update: Surveying the land
My objective is to advance conservation efforts for monarch butterflies by promoting awareness of the critical role native plants and pollinators play in sustaining ecosystems. Scientific research identifies milkweed as an essential host plant for monarch reproduction, making its restoration a priority for species survival. Guided by expert input from leading ecologists, including Dr. Doug Landis (Michigan State University), and Dr. Nate Sanders (University of Michigan), I am implementing a one-acre restoration project on family property. This initiative will establish milkweed and diverse native wildflowers to support monarch populations while generating ecological data to inform future habitat management strategies.
